|Joy Burger, Children's Director|
What a great big God we serve! I am humbled and amazed by Who He is and the power that only He can possess, for it was truly by His mighty hand that He orchestrated this opportunity for me to minister to the children and families of Richfield Church of the Nazarene! If you have ever wondered if God still moves and still performs miracles, come and ask me about how I came to be the Children's Ministries Director for this wonderful new church home!
I was born and raised in nearby Clio by two very special parents. Although our family attended church, we weren't serving Christ as our personal Savior. One Sunday morning at the age of 16, I felt the gentle nudge of the Holy Spirit and just knew that I needed Jesus as my Lord and Savior and Best Friend. Soon after, my parents and my brothers all came to know the Lord and we became a family in faith.
It was while attending the University of Michigan that I rediscovered the "boy who grew up just a half mile away from our home", - Bruce Burger. God richly blessed me with this amazing man of God and we are thrilled to have just celebrated our 32nd year of marriage! We have two precious children: Matt, and his wife Ashley, who live in Lansing, and our daughter Christine, and her husband Zac, who live in Maryland. All of our children serve the Lord in their respective churches, and we have so much fun together. Would you believe that we even still have Easter Egg Hunts?!!! (Shhh-don't tell them that I told you!!!) I also need to mention one other family member: Printzess Camael of Vienna (Cammie), who is our much-loved Longhaired Miniature Dachshund!
My favorite place to be is around water and trees, so canoeing and walking along the shore are moments I treasure. I enjoy reading, collecting children's pop-up books, traveling, writing, touring homes, and spending time with my family.
God has truly given me a heart for children. I've served as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout/Boy Scout Leader, Booster President, Room Mom, Sports Mom, and more throughout our children's school years. For the past 14 years, I've been blessed to have ministered to children and adults as the Children's Ministries Director for a local church. There's no better place to be than in Children's Ministries-please give me a call and let's talk about how YOU can find laughter, "warm fuzzies", and such fulfillment by sharing Jesus with kids!
